DISC
The DISC Personality Test is based on more than 80 years of research and development. It is based on the highly successful DISC model of personality. Tests based on this model have been administered more than 50 million times throughout the world to help identify people’s personality and character.
DISC – The Theory
The DISC Theory was developed by William Moulton Marston in the 1920′s. (W.M. Marston: 1893-1947, Harvard graduate, lawyer, psychologist and educational consultant.) Since then the theory has been refined and validated by many eminent psychologists and HR professionals.
The Four Traits
Some people believe that using the DISC Model to describe personality is an over-simplification.
Before coming to such a conclusion please consider this…
There are only three primary colours and yet they allow us to produce every single colour, tone and hue in the world
| High Scorers: | |
| Dominance | – direct and decisive. |
| Influence | – energised and optimistic when interacting. |
| Steadiness | – cooperative & collaborative |
| Compliance / Conscientiousness | – strives for things to be right & prefers to be cautious |
Personality predicts job success
For years psychologists turned to cognitive ability as a predictor of job performance: The more intelligent people were considered to be the more likely they were to succeed in a job. But intelligence alone is only part of the story, say researchers.
Personality, rather than intelligence, is a more accurate predictor of job success.
Knowledge is power!
We are all wired differently, to some of us attention to detail and sticking to the rules is our guiding principal; whilst to others the only way to make real progress is to get things done and never mind the rules.
The thing is that there is no right or wrong – just different!
Gain an insight into these differences using the DISC Personality Test.

Nature versus Nurture
You got your green eyes from your mother, and your freckles from your father. But where did you get your outgoing personality and conscientiousness from? Did you learn these from your parents or was it predetermined by your genes? While it’s clear that physical characteristics are hereditary, the genetic waters get a bit more murky when it comes to an individual’s behaviour, intelligence, and personality.
Ultimately, the old argument of nature vs. nurture has never really been won. We do not yet know how much of what we are is determined by our DNA and how much by our life experience. But we do know that both play a part.
